Philippines sets Oscar entry
The Film Academy from the Philippines has posted Marlon Rivera's film-within-a-film "The Lady inside a Septic Tank" ("Ang babae sa septic tank") to represent the archipelago nation for foreign-language Oscar consideration. A satire around the local indie industry, pic tracks three filmmakers because they create the things they hope is going to be their award-winning opus, starring thesp Eugene Domingo, who plays herself."Lady" taken the Cinemalaya Filipino Independent Film Festival in This summer, taking home the honors for film, director, actress (Domingo), script (Chris Martinez) and also the audience choice award within the New Breed category."Lady" may be the directorial debut of Rivera, who's also prexy-Boss of ad firm Publicis Manila, who owns fashion clothing line MNR and inventive director of store Folded & Hung.Pic first showed August. 3 within the Philippines, where Box Office Mojo Philippines rated it third having a gross of $333,368 its first week, beating Tom Hanks-Jennifer Aniston starrer "Ray Crowne," which bowed at No. 5.
